Welcome to Hands and Hearts for Africa

Malawi is a nation of truly amazing children. We have seen first hand how these children are energetic and eager to learn, like all kids worldwide.

Tragically, AIDS, malaria and other preventable diseases have wiped out a whole generation of parents to many of these beautiful children, leaving them with little hope for the future.

It is heartbreaking to see very young children bearing the burden of caring for even younger siblings.

With your help, we are working together to bring hope for their future, working toward sustainable solutions around the many challenges of meeting physical and spiritual needs. Together, we can make an impact on the lives of many of these children. It is our privilege, and our responsibility.

“Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given.” Luke 12:48 NLT

Next trip

May 18 to June 1 2012.

Has GOD been nudging you to go on a mission trip?

Consider Malawi. It is called “The Warm Heart of Africa” because of the warmth and hospitality of its people.

What will we do?

This trip will appeal to individuals who are comfortable in unstructured settings and would like to be challenged. Our time will include:

Learn, grow and exercise our faith in small rural communities by…

• Connecting with a local church as we walk together through villages visiting families and praying with the sick.
• Worshiping together with Africans in their local setting.
• Spending time with children (mostly orphans) in unstructured settings, showing them love, engaging in simple activities, and, teaching very basic Bible curriculum.

Build relationships by…

• Spending time with community leaders and families.
• Learning the culture through mild immersion into life in Malawi so we can more fully understand needs and how best to assist.
• Spending time with people living with HIV / AIDS.

Assist communities familiar to us by…

• Working in small community gardens preparing soil for the next growing season and assessing irrigation needs.
• Helping with breakfast programs for orphans.
• Helping with construction of a church building.
• Distributing supplies at a district hospital and a rural clinic.
• Visiting and working on other projects led by Emmanuel International, one of our key on-the-ground partners in Malawi

When?

The next trip is planned for May 18, 2012.
